In August we visited the Reifel Bird Sanctuary in Delta, BC. The sanctuary is a beautiful, peaceful spot nearly 300 hectares in size, with walking trails passing through wetlands and marshes. There’s an observation tower you can climb for incredible views, and you can purchase birdseed from the office to feed the feathered inhabitants. If you’re patient and lucky, a bird might eat from your hand!
Paths are level and wheelchair accessible. For more information about the bird sanctuary, visit their website.
Note: The overhead shot of the heron was taken by my ten-year-old son. Click on images to see a larger version.
Beautiful photos. I love the one that G took – amazing !!

He took a whole bunch of pictures. I didn’t think I was going to get my camera back! I love that he thought to take overhead shots.
